Just prior to the close of the interview, Mr.
KEYES stated that JACK RUBY had called the office of ELM
about two and a half weeks ago and requested to talk with
GORDON MC LENLA1W, Owner of KLIP. MC LULA= was not is the
office, at that tine, so KEYES spoke with RUBY. Although

could not recall the exact text of the conversation, KEYES
advised that RUBY stated that he was calling from the County.
Jail and that "BILL" let him make the call. RUBY advised
KEYES that he had received several congratulatory telegrams
and it was RUBY's desire to have these telegrams printed is
the newspaper. RUBY requested that these telegrams be made
public, to show the people that "he Wasn't such • bad person."

telephone conversation did
not last long and that RUBY mentioned nothing other than the
telegrams and the fact that he wanted them printed. KEYES
stated that he turned this information over to JOE

III? for further inquiry.
KEYES further stated that the only other information
he possessed concerning the assassination of President KENNEDY
and the shooting of LEE HARVEY OSWALD was that which he had .,
read in. the newspaper.
